Greece’s main opposition New Democracy party has accused Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras of “unprecedented irresponsibility” for choosing to inform the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Ieronymos II first about ongoing talks on the FYROM name dispute.
“It is now obvious that the prime minister puts his petty party aspirations before [the] national interest.
“Today, he thought it appropriate to inform the Archbishop before the [political] parties, when a few days earlier the Foreign Ministry equated the representatives of the Church with Golden Dawn,” the party said in a statement.
“[This is] unprecedented irresponsibility, from a dangerous government that now assumes exclusive responsibility for whatever happens,” it added.
