Notorious Greek Hitman Walks Free for 48 Hours (video)

Dimitris Koufontinas, a senior member of the November 17 terrorist group, left jail on Friday morning after he was granted a 48-hour leave, the second in the space of three months.
Koufontinas was jailed for life over the killings of 11 people including U.S., British and Turkish embassy staff.
The 60-year-old convict, who was group’s key hitman, is expected to return to prison on Sunday morning. He is restricted to his home area of Varnavas in northeastern Attica and must report at the local police station twice a day.
New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, whose brother-in-law Pavlos Bakoyiannis was assassinated by November 17, said the leave was inconceivable.
“Not just because he hasn’t shown the least remorse for his cold-blood assassinations, but because he remains the ideological leader of a new generation of terrorists,” he said.
He also vowed to abolish the law allowing such criminals to have temporary release from prison. “It will will be among the first ones to be abolished we return to office,” he said.
U.K. ambassador to Greece Kate Smith voiced her strong reaction. In a message on Twitter the British diplomat wrote: “It’s extremely disheartening to see an unrepentant convicted terrorist coming out of prison again.”
The U.S. State Department condemned Koufodinas’ 48-hour leave on Thursday, commenting that “we fundamentally believe that convicted terrorists do not deserve a vacation from prison”.
