Two Climbers Stranded on Voras Mountains Found Dead

The two climbers who went missing while hiking on the Voras Mountains at the northern Pella regional unit on Saturday afternoon were found dead, the fire department said on Sunday.
A special disaster response unit (EMAK) rescue team had located the man and the woman in a ravine about fifteen meters deep late on Saturday but the snowstorm in the area made it difficult for the crews to approach the climbers. When they reached them, they were both unconscious.
Speaking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA), regional manager of fire department services in Central Macedonia, Kostas Poultidis, said rescue teams pulled out the bodies of the climbers and transferred them to the shelter of the nearest ski center where their death was confirmed.
The two victims, aged about 30, were from the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) and were hiking with a group on Voras, but at some point they were cut off from the others and their tracks were lost. Their bodies were transferred to the hospital in Edessa.
