Diplomatic Efforts to Resolve Cyprus’ EEZ Standoff Continue

Diplomatic efforts continue to resolve a standoff in Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone (EEZ) block 3, after Turkish warships blocked last Friday a drillship from reaching target “Cuttlefish” to conduct an exploratory drill for natural gas.

The Cypriot government awaits the results of these efforts, while Turkish actions will be addressed on Thursday, during a meeting between the President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and Elizabeth Spehar, the Deputy Special Adviser of the UN Secretary-General on Cyprus.

Speaking to CNA, Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides said that diplomatic efforts are ongoing and that we should wait for the results.
