Brave AEK Bow Out of Europa League (video)


AEK failed to find a goal that its performance deserved in Ukraine and bowed out from the Europa League after another draw against Dynamo Kiev.
Following the gripping 1-1 draw in Athens last week, AEK traveled to the Ukrainian capital knowing they need to score a goal to have any hope of advancing to the Last 16.
AEK dominated most of the game creating a host of good chances but failed to score.
The Greeks came closest to scoring in the 22nd minute when after a corner Dynamo goalkeeper Denys Boyko lost the ball as he came to gather, with the ball looping towards goal, but Dynamo captain Morozyuk did brilliantly to stretch and hook the ball off the line.
The best opportunity for the AEK fell to Masoud Shojaei on 51st minute. The Iranian striker shot over the bar in front of an empty net.


The Athenians bow out from the Europa League having been unbeaten in 10 successive European games.
AEK’s coach Manolo Jimenez said that his was proud of his team’s performance but disappointed with some refereeing decisions.
