A fire broke out early at dawn of Saturday in the building where the 2nd Tax Office (DOY) of Larissa is housed, at the corner of Patroklos and Roosevelt Streets.
.
According to the Larissa Fire Department, a local called at 5:20 am to report a fire in the tax office building. The Fire Department responded by sending 32 firefighters with 13 vehicles on the spot.
The tax office is closed on the weekends, but the Larissa Fire Department was alarmed because the building is very close to several restaurants and cafes equipped with gas containers and other flammable materials.
Assistant director of the 2nd Tax Office of Larissa, Eleni Tzortziou, was the first to rush to the building as soon as the fire was reported, according to Onlarissa.gr news website.
The tax officer noted that even though the building has suffered great damages, the firefighters have saved the important section where property titles and wills are archived.
The causes of the fire are unknown so far.
