Greek Museums See Rise in Visitor Numbers

Thessaloniki’s White Tower saw a 20-percent drop in visitors

Greek museums saw an increase in visitor numbers in 2017 it was revealed on Monday.
According to the Hellenic Statistics Agency (ELSTAT), November 2017 saw a year-on-year increase of 7.2 percent despite a 0.9 percent drop in the number of free admissions.
The number of visitors to Greek archaeological sites in the same period was up 17.8 percent.
ELSTAT also recorded a 15.9 percent increase in museum visitors between January and November 2017.
Although most locations saw an increase in visitors, ELSTAT data revealed that Ancient Olympia saw a more-than-10-percent drop in numbers, as did Thessaloniki’s White Tower which saw a 20-percent drop.
