Ten people were detained by Greek police on Monday morning during raids on squatted buildings in central Athens.
Officers raided premises on Kallidromiou Street in Exarchia, scene of regular rioting between leftist groups and police.
A second building on nearby Zaimi Street was also raided, followed by one on Matrozou Street in the city’s Koukaki district.
Greek police have faced criticism over a wave of lawlessness from groups on the extreme left and right in recent weeks. Police unions have in turn hit out at the country’s political leadership.
