Bears Wake from Winter Sleep in Northern Greece

Spring is in the air and the waking of bears as they come out of their hibernation is a sign of the change of seasons at the Arcturos wildlife sanctuary in Nymfaio, northern Greece.
As the snow starts to thaw, 14 bears at the sanctuary gradually emerge from their dens, with the youngest, which are already up and wandering about the compound, usually waking first.
Now that the bears are up, the sanctuary will be open to the public again from Thursday, March 15.
It is open every day of the week except Wednesday, between the hours of 10am to 4:30pm local time.
