Greek Football Mogul Faces Long Ban, PAOK Relegation

A Greek sports prosecutor has brought disciplinary action against PAOK and its chairman Ivan Savvidis for storming onto a pitch on Sunday carrying a gun in a holster.
The Georgia-born businessman faces a fine and a ban from soccer for three to five years for threatening match officials.
The Thessaloniki team also faces a deduction of points, even relegation from Greece’s top-flight Super League.
Savvidis, whose actions triggered a suspension of all Super League matches, apologized in a club statement on Tuesday but the European Club Association (ECA) suspended the Greek side as a member with immediate effect.
The development came as Herbert Huebel, who heads a monitoring committee set up by FIFA last year for Greek football, met Deputy Culture and Sport minister Georgios Vassiliadis and federation officials.
