Tax Cuts, Reforms Dominate Greek Opposition's Agenda (video)

The reduction of corporation tax from 29 percent to 20 percent and the implementation of needed reforms will be priorities for New Democracy chief Kyriakos Mitsotakis if he comes to power.
Greece’s main opposition leader spoke to Bloomberg TV during a trip to the United States, appearing optimistic that his conservative party will win the next Greek election, which he predicts might be as soon as the second half of 2018, instead of 2019 when the four-year term of the current administration expires.
In the most recent poll, New Democracy is 10 percentage points ahead of SYRIZA.
Mitsotakis said his priorities include reduction of corporation tax to 20 percent and reducing property tax by 30 percent in the first two years of his administration.
Mitsotakis said he will implement important structural reforms and re-negotiate with Greece’s creditors the agreed primary surpluses of 3.5 percent of gross domestic product for each year until 2022.
Regarding Greece’s sovereign debt, the New Democracy leader said that the amount of debt is of secondary importance.
“We are wrong to believe that Greece’s problems are just related to the stock of debt,” he said. “We need to completely transform the productive model of the economy and leverage the significant comparative advantages.”
