Greek Marathon Man, 87, Does It Again

Stelios Prassas, an 87-year-old marathon runner of the Telmissos, Nea Makri athletics team did it again on Sunday, finishing the 21.1 kilometers (13 miles) of the Athens Half Marathon in 2.54.34.
Prassas, holder of eight Panhellenic records in his career, ran with thousands other participants in the 7th Athens Half Marathon. He does it every year, winning applause of fellow runners and spectators.
At an age where most of his peers can hardly walk, Prassas finished in less than three hours, while many runners less than half his age quit.
Born in 1931, the athlete told television reporters that he loved the sport and pledged to be at the starting line in the 2019 Athens Half Marathon.
