Ankara Calls Athens 'Irresponsible' after Erdogan was Descibed as a 'Sultan'

Turkey’s foreign ministry called the statement made by the Greek prime minister’s office on Sunday; in which President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is described indirectly as a ‘Sultan’,  ‘irresponsible’.
“The rhetoric reflected in yesterday’s announcement by the Greek Prime Minister’s office regarding the two Greek soldiers who are currently detained because they have illegally entered our borders proves that the Greek government is increasingly beginning to lower the level of dialogue with Turkey. These comments, which are incompatible with a responsible government, are of great concern,” the official statement said.
“When it serves its interests, Greece brings the principle of the rule of law to the fore. At the same time, it has no objection to completely ignore this principle by not even applying the decisions of international courts. Recent history shows this,” the statement further says.
The response was also in regard to the statement made by the Greek side that Turkey is trying to exchange the two Greek soldiers with the eight Turkish army officers who were granted asylum in Greece after the failed coup attempt in the neighboring country in 2016.
