Watch Serbian Minister Sing Greek Duet with Visiting Kotzias (video)

Greek FM Nikos Kotzias (R) with Serbian Deputy PM Ivica Dacic, singing a duet in Belgrade.

Political visits are often stuffy, formal occasions but for Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, a trip to Belgrade ended in an unlikely musical duet with his hosts’ deputy prime minister.
Footage from Serbian news site Blic, shared across Greek media, shows Kotzias sitting down to a meal with his Serbian hosts.
Foreign minister and first deputy premier Ivica Dacic then takes a microphone and with a musical accompaniment, begins to sing a Greek classic called “Do not Forget My Eyes” by Giorgos Dalaras — in fluent Greek.
Touched by the gesture, the casually dressed Kotzias stands up to join in. Dacic, reaching the end of the tune, then hurls a dinner plate to the ground — a quintessentially Greek party trick.

This musical interlude is not the first for Greece’s foreign minister. At a 2015 NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Turkey, he climbed onstage to link arms with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu for an unlikely rendition of 1985 charity song “We Are The World”.
