FYROM Premier: We Never Came This Close to a Naming Solution with Greece

“I believe we have never had better conditions to achieve a comprehensive solution … which will last forever,” FYROM Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said in an interview with the French Press Agency (AFP) on Saturday.
Zaev was referring to the ongoing talks between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia on the naming of the Balkan country.
But “if this difference is not resolved, it will not be the end of the world”, “we will follow our European program in one way or another,” he added.
While the FYROM prime minister confirmed that “a huge part of the problem” has already been resolved, he refused to give more details on the negotiations, explaining that “this could completely ruin the process.”
The recommendation for the opening of EU accession negotiations is “an open door,” Zaev said. “It is very important for FYROM,” he added. The European integration of the countries of the Western Balkans is also a promise of “stability” on the continent, the FYROM prime minister said. The countries in the region “have never worked together so much,” he said.
