113-year-old Ekaterini Kornarou from the town of Krestena in Peloponnese has joined the group of the oldest people in the world.
According to official documents and electronic records Karnarou was born on July 25, 1905.
According to local news reports, her relatives are gathering the necessary supporting documents to send to the Guinness Book of Records.
On Saturday, the world’s oldest person, Nabi Tajima, a 117-year-old Japanese woman died at a hospital in the town of Kikai in southern Japan.
Tajima, born on Aug. 4, 1900, was the last known person born in the 19th century. She raised seven sons and two daughters and reportedly had more than 160 descendants, including great-great-great grandchildren.
The oldest woman ever, whose age had been verified, was Jeanne Calment (1875-1997) of France, who died at the age of 122 years, 164 days and who is also the verified oldest person ever to have lived.
