Greek Anarchists Target Austrian Mission in Athens

Members of Greece’s anarchist group Rouvikonas (Rubicon) carried out a protest outside the residence of the Austrian ambassador in Athens on Sunday.
A group of anarchists riding motorbikes approached the ambassador’s residence and threw flyers at the building in what they said was a response to Vienna’s calls to halt the relocation of refugees among EU member states.
In a post on an anti-establishment website, Rouvikonas also accused the Freedom Party of Austria, which is part of the country’s ruling coalition, of being linked with far-right movements.
Rouvikonas is well-known for actions against foreign embassies and organizations located in Greece.
In the most recent case earlier in May, the group vandalized the office of the U.K. charity Oxfam over a child sex abuse scandal involving some of its staff in Haiti.
