Kavala Student, 16, To Participate in Microsoft Championship in Florida


Efi Ziota, a 16-year-old student at 6th Kavala High School and Greek champion in “Microsoft Office Specialist”, will represent Greece in the final contest in Florida, the U.S.A. in August.
The Pan-Hellenic final of the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship was held last Saturday in Athens, where 100 students from all over Greece, including Efi Ziota, took part in the qualifying phase.
The Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship takes place for the 17th year. The contest evaluates students’ skills in applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. People aged 13 to 22 from 140 countries in the world are eligible to participate.
The 16-year-old from Kavala won first place in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 in Greece, while two more students, Anastasios Melas from Sparta and Panagiotis Nikolopoulos from Afidnes, Attica, came first in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word respectively. The three students will travel to Florida to represent Greece in the prestigious global IT applications contest.
Efi and the other two Greek students will compete among the 140 best students on the planet. More than 700,000 students throughout the world participated in the preliminary stages of the competition.
