Thessaloniki Attackers 'Aimed to Kill' Say Greek Police

Saturday’s petrol-bomb attack on police in Thessaloniki guarding the city’s Turkish consulate has seen prosecutors launch a probe into the incident.
Police representatives have also described the attack by a group of masked assailants as attempted murder, saying the gang had wanted to burn officers alive.
According to reports, barriers were thrown up when riot police crossed to an Aristotle University building on Aghios Dimitriou Street.
Traffic was cut off and over two dozen people came from the university building, hurling the incendiary devices at police.
No injuries were reported, and a damaged police bus had to be towed away.
