Former Greek Politician Virginia Tsouderou Dies at 94


Former Greek politician Virginia Tsouderou, who had served as a deputy foreign minister in a New Democracy government between August 1991 until October 1993, died on Monday at the age of 94.
Tsouderou was the daughter of Emmanouil Tsouderos, the prime minister of Greece’s wartime government-in-exile (1941-1944).
She was born in Heraklio, Crete and studied economics, philosophy and political sciences at Oxford, public finances at the University of Minnesota and regional economics at Radcliffe-Harvard (USA).
She was Emeritus Chairperson of Transparency International-Greece and member of the Greek Association of Women Academics, as well as member of the Greek representation in the UN on the Cyprus issue.
