African King Baptized into Greek Orthodox Church on Mount Athos

Every baptism is a happy occasion but a recent ceremony in the religious enclave of Greece’s Mount Athos was a little extra special.
A tribal king who had travelled all the way from the West African nation of Ivory Coast — King Tchiffi Zae Jean Gervais — was welcomed into the Orthodox faith with the baptismal name David by a local priest, Father Dionysus.

The Monastery of Koutloumousiou was proud to hold the special ceremony for the king, who is the Prime Chancellor of the United Kingdoms of Africa, a non-political forum which supports Africa’s various governments and institutions.
