Giannis Antetokounmpo was hailed as a “humble hero” when he rushed to help an elderly man about to collapse from the heat in central Athens on Thursday.
Photos of the “Greek Freak” standing next to the man suffering from heat stroke are spreading like wildfire on social media.
According to eye-witnesses the incident took place at Goudi as temperatures hit 37°C (98.6°F).
The elderly man walking on the street fell ill and he was about to collapse.
A woman passerby struggled to keep him upright, until Antetokounmpo appeared out of nowhere and rushed to lift the man and sat him on a chair provided by neighbor.
The Milwaukee Bucks superstar remained at the scene until the man recovered and an ambulance arrived.
The woman who posted the photos on Facebook wrote:
“You [Antetokounmpo] are a great athlete but today I realized you are also a great human being.”
