Unseasonal Storms Disrupt Greek Summer (video)

Greek traffic police closed roads and the fire service responded to calls to pump out flooded homes and basements following heavy rains on Sunday that hit the greater Athens region and central Greece.
The fire service was called upon to deal with motorists stranded on submerged streets in the Greek caapital.

Several towns and villages in Thessaly, central Greece, were also hit by storms. Major problems were reported near the town of Farsala where many homes were flooded. The fire service rescued at least six people who were trapped inside their submerged basements.
The wet weather is expected to continue on Monday with rainfall and the occasional thunderstorm, moving from the eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the northern Aegean to mainland Greece.
