Russia 'Summoned Greek Ambassador' in Diplomacy Row

Greek media are reporting that Athens’ ambassador to Russia has been summoned by the foreign ministry there.
According to a report in Greek newspaper Kathimerini, Andreas Fryganas was called in following Athens’ robust response to comments by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Sakharova on Greece’s expulsion of two Moscow diplomats last week.
Greece had responded to Sakharova’s statement with a brusque statement warning the Kremlin to keep out of Greece’s affairs.
The expulsions came amid allegations that Russian money and sources were manipulating and backing anti-government protests in Greece over the ‘North Macedonia’ deal.
The prime minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia also made claims that “Greek businessmen” were using Russian funds to stir up opposition to the name deal on his side of the border.
