Greece's Civil Protection Agency Issues High Alert for Fires

A high alert for fires in Attica, Evia and the Northern Aegean islands for Wednesday has been announced by the Civil Protection Secretary General’s office.
In a statement, the Interior Ministry’s department said that drivers and people visiting wooded areas should heed any restrictions imposed by local authorities.
The areas facing a high risk of fire on Wednesday include the following:
– The islands of Chios, Ikaria, Lesvos and Samos in the North Aegean Sea
– The islands of Evia and Skyros in central Aegean
– The entire Attica region
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection also called on people to call the Fire Department at 199 to report fires and wildfires, and referred them to its web page (https://www.civilprotection.gr/en) for further information.
