AHI Delegation meeting with the Greek PM

“We had a very good meeting with the Prime Minister and we see things positively. We are here to help, we do whatever we can, the Greek Diaspora in the US, that is why we came here” stated the President of the Greek Diaspora organization American Hellenic Institute, Alekos Charalambides, after the meeting of Board of Directors of AHI and the Greek Prime Minister George A. Papandreou.
As Mr. Charalambides stated the institute focuses on the foreign policy of Greece and Cyprus.Mr. Charalambides also mentioned that the discussion with the Prime Minister generally focused on the provision of aid for an increase in investments “from the US and individuals in the US”On his part, the organization’s executive director, Nikos Laryngakis said that there is “interest from the Greek-Americans to do whatever they can for the crisis that Greece is currently facing” and added that one of the goals of the organization is to do their best in order to attract investments from the U.S. towards Greece and stressed that “our fundamental goal as an organization is to constantly promote national issues to the U.S. Government, the so-called “usual” issues, do the so-called “lobbying” and constantly seek, day by day, towards this direction, to do the best we can”.
“We also try to inform Greeks in America, who often don’t have a way of learning about national issues, and we are the only organization that informs the public, Greeks in America and provide details on the relations between Greece, Cyprus and Turkey, and other neighboring countries” concluded Mr. Charalambides.
