Greeks Find Their Future to Be Poorer

The Euro barometer poll, notes an increase in poverty percentages during this past year in Greece.
93,7% of Greeks, indicate to be poorer, whilst there is an equivalent of 74,7% in the EE.
In addition, 43% of respondents indicate that, they have difficulties keeping up with the total expenses of their household. The figure for the rest of the EU is 15.1%.
The main conclusion that emerges from the research is that, the Greeks are found at the 1st place among “27” countries in the EE, considered to be the most severely hit by the crisis.
The survey was conducted in May taking into account all the 27 member states of the EU.
According to the survey, 73.2% of the Romanians and 69.3 of the Greeks (EU average 28.4%) believe that in the next 12 months their economic situation will get worse.
Regarding the impact of the crisis towards pensions, the Euro barometer shows that 51% of Greeks (first in the EU average 27.1%) expects to receive a lesser pension from the anticipated, while 17% ( EU 20.3%) thought that they would be forced to retire later than originally planned.
Furthermore, 30.2% of Romanians, 28.8% of Latvians and 28.3% of Greeks (14.6% in the EU) are worried about the possibility of not earning a sufficient pension that will ensure a decent living.
Finally, 34.9% of Greeks (18% in the EU) who are currently employed, say that, they are not sure if they are still going to maintain their current job and 73% (49% in EU) believe it is highly unlikely to find another job if laid off.
