Former Portsmouth defensive midfielder Papa Bouba Diop, 32, arrived in Athens on Sunday afternoon following his transfer to AEK Athens FC.
The Senegalese international was welcomed by about 150 AEK supporters at the airport, where he made his first statements.
“I believe in this team a great deal. I have seen it in many games both of the Europa League and the championship. I am enthusiastic with the welcome. I did not expect such a thing. I hope to pay them back with my performance on the field.” (ANA-MPA)
The 32-year-old midfielder will undergo medical tests before signing a two-year contract with AEK.
