Hotelkeepers in Greece see 9% revenues downturn

Hotelkeepers in Greece see some 9% downturn in revenues in 2010 after the 12% drop in 2009, News In informs.
According to chairperson of the Greek association of hotelkeepers, Andreas Andreadis, the current and previous management of the Ministry of Tourism managed to cut the price of the tourist product by around 15% in two years, as a result of which tourism sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country will shrink to less than 15% by the end of 2010 against 18% in 2008.
Andreadis insists for VAT decrease for the tourism sector, as this will seriously increase the tourists’ inflow and state’s revenues.
