AEK Coach Attacked by Fans

An incident happened on Saturday has worried Greek authorities as the new Super League season is due to start at the end of the month and they have promised to eliminate fan violence. The coach of the AEK soccer club Dusan Bajevic, was attacked by a group of his own team’s fans at the end of a friendly match against Kallithea. Fortunately he was not seriously injured.
AEK was losing the game 2-1 against its second division hosts when in the 87th minute, dozens of the visiting club’s supporters ran on the pitch and forced the referee to abandon the game. A group of about 20 people then surrounded coach Dusan Bajevic who was pushed to the ground and attacked before riot police intervened.
The attack on Bajevic was also a blow to AEK, which had enjoyed a successful pre-season after being rocked by serious financial problems over the last few years.
