Vacationing Greeks Peak in August

As Greece and its people have been suffering from the intense financial turmoil which pushed the country close to bankruptcy this year, many Greeks took summer holidays just days ahead of the new austerity progresses expected next month.

Many citizens including Prime Minister George Papandreou and almost all the members of the Greek Parliament have been vacationing on Greek beaches. The exodus peaked this weekend in preparation of The Celebration of the Virgin Mary feast on August 15th; one of Greece’s foremost public holidays. Many Greeks traveled to beaches and country sides to relax in order to relax and not think of their nations difficulties if just for a few days.
