PASOK & ND's Reaction to Striking Trucker Sector

Negotiations today between the reigning Greek government of Pasok and striking truckers reached a deadlock.  The truckers declared that the government understands the issue at hand but is not willing to withdraw the bill.
The President of the Truckers’ Association George Tzortzatos declared after his meeting with Transport Minister Dimitris Reppas, that the discussion was not at all fruitful and asked the government to give an immediate solution or mobilisations will continue. Besides the truckers have nothing else to lose he added.
Meanwhile Reppas underlined that the Government’s aim is to open the market with competitive terms; something that is no longer up for discussion. The Minister also added that the government has already discussed this with the truckers and presented their proposals. This discussion between the two parties could be really substanstive and fruitful if the truckers accept their terms.
The oppositional party of New Democracy puts the blame on the government saying that : ” We as the party of New Democracy, we would like to ask the truckers not to ruin the Greek economy and to end their strike immediately.” Besides Greece is in the middle of a really difficult situation and we should all try to be responsible and temperate, the ND party added.
