For yet another week Greek TV viewers preferred the series “The Island” over any other program. The tremendous success of the series continues. It also offers a new direction for the Mega channel. The channel, seeing the astonishing reaction from viewers, is now looking to go in a different direction with the titles they broadcast. They are looking for more quality productions similar to many that were popular in the past and are missing from Greek TV.
The episode on Monday, November 22nd reached a 53.8% rating for total audience numbers and a 61.5% for young audience numbers. These figures surpass all previous ratings. None of the shows in the same time slot came close. “Next Top Model” was at 10.5% for total audience numbers and 15.6% for young audiences. “Big Brother”, which started an hour earlier, reached 8.8% for total audience numbers and 9.6% for younger audiences. Competing channels have placed stronger and very popular programs in this time slot to compete with “The Island”.
