Danny Boyle's "127 Hours" Opens the 51st Thessaloniki International Film Festival

The 51st Thessaloniki International Film Festival will begin on December 3rd with the film “127 hours” by Danny Boyle.  It is a true, shocking real life story. The director of the Oscar winning film “Slumdog Millionaire” based his production on the book by Aron Ralston.  It tells the heroic adventures of the young climber Aron Ralston, (James Franco).  During his wanderings in a canyon in Utah he is trapped between a rock fissure.  He manages to survive and is rescued. In this nearly fatal adventure which lasted 127 hours, Aron reviews his life and thinks about his personal limits as well as his weaknesses.
The Thessaloniki Film Festival will last until December 11th.  It will also  show the film “Black Swan” by Darren Arnofski.  It was a popular point of discussion at the Cannes Film Festival and includes Natalie Portman and Vincent Kansel for the leading roles.
