Copenhagen 3-1 Panathinaikos: Danes Stroll Through To The Knockout Stages

Copenhagen put in an impressive performance at Parken Stadium to see off a disappointing Panathinaikos team 3-0 and book their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Martin Vingaard opened the scoring on 26 minutes with a superb goal from long-range before Jesper Gronkjaer’s 50th minute penalty doubled the lead. The result was put beyond doubt on 73 minutes when Djibril Cisse diverted the ball past his own ‘keeper to cap a forgettable Champions League campaign for the Greeks. Cedric Kante did score a late consolation but there was to be no late comeback.
The result means Copenhagen finish second behind Barcelona while Panathinaikos exit European competition for this year, finishing bottom of Group D.
