Nuclei of Fire Terrrorist Group's Trial begins Today

Nine suspected members of a Greek armed terrorist group went on trial Monday.  The cases concern a series of bomb attacks, in a heavily policed Athens court set up inside a maximum security prison.
The entire police force is on red alert status, as there is a possibility for a hit by the rest of the members.
Members of the group are mostly in their early 20’s.  They are suspected members of the group Conspiracy of Nuclei of Fire. Four other wanted suspects will be tried in absentia. The anarchist group claimed responsibility for a spate of parcel bombings in November and the bombing of a court building last month.
This is the first time since the Socialists came to power in October 2009, vowing to crack down on leftist violence, that suspected urban guerrilla group members have faced trial.
The suspects are on trial over bombings that targeted a government building and the office and home of two politicians.  Each case caused no injuries and limited damage.
More than three-hundred policemen guarded the court. The trial is expected to last months.  The defendants face up to life imprisonment, if found guilty on all charges.
