Acclaimed Director Yorgos Lanthimos Leads National Theater of Greece Perfomances

Greek filmmaker and theater director, Yorgos Lanthimos, who is also an Oscar nominee for his film “Dogtooth”, is now working on Anton Chekhov’s plays. His life partner, Ariane Labed, who has been awarded in the film festival of Venice stands by him and supports his efforts. The theatrical play “Platonov” will be performed in the Nea Skini “Nikos Kourkoulos” at the National Theater of Greece. The novel was adapted for the stage by David Hare. Yorgos Lanthimos studied many theatrical plays, but decided to direct “Platonof” because he wanted to put on a classic theatrical play into a modern adaptation. He is very satisfied with the cast, and especially with leading actor Aris Servetalis. The play will also star Manos Vamvakousis, Maria Protopappa, Thanasis Dimou, Vasilis Karampoulas, Andreas Konstantinou, Angeliki Papoulia and Elena Topalidou.
Platonov” has been played in Greece once in 1980.
