Greek Journalists Protest in Athens

Greek journalists on Friday pounded Athens’ streets and marched at the National Parliament, demanding the halt on layoffs and reductions in salaries.
Greek media announced an unprecedented four-day strike on the morning of April 7th and ever since the country has remained in an information vacuum. The majority of news websites are not being updated, state news agencies remain silent and papers will not be published until at least Tuesday. A trade union commission is urging media not to hold the strike to stop their work immediately.
In return, the Athens’ stock exchange announced it would temporarily restrict the circulation of the shares of Greece’s largest media companies.
