Gymnast Petrounias Wins Bronze Medal at European Championship

Lefteris Petrounias showed that there is more to Greek gymnastics than just the well-known Vlassis Maras and Lefteris Kosmidis, by winning the bronze medal at the European Championship in Berlin on Saturday.
The Greek rings champion was defeated by a pair of Russians, and finished third place in the final with 15,675 points, the first international success of his career.
Petrounias had qualified at fourth place in the final, but managed to get onto the podium thanks to a sequence that was particularly demanding (6.8).
This was the first European championship for the 21-year-old, who is following in the footsteps of Olympian Dimosthenis Tambakos.
