Blue Flag Awards 54 Cypriot Beaches

Fifty-four beaches of Cyprus have been given the ”Blue Flag” award in 2010, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Antonis Paschalidis stated. He stressed that the beaches of Cyprus have been repeatedly ranked as the cleanest and of the highest quality beaches compared to those of other EU countries, after being controlled according to the EU directive.
In his address at the ”Blue Flag” award ceremony at Panagies beach of the Limassol Tower Community, the Minister of Commerce stated that, ”it is a big honour and an important event for Cyprus, and in particular, for the country’s beaches to be ranked among the highest places, in recent voting of the popular ”Trip Advisor” website. According to the results, he said, ”Ayia Napa” beaches ranked first, and “Protaras” beach ranked third in Europe, and this basically ranks our island as a top destination for its amazing beaches”.
Paschalidis mentioned that the large travel offices abroad, attach great importance to the ”Blue Flag” award, when choosing touristic destinations for their customers, and emphasize a great deal on the excellent services provided on the coast, as well as the protection of the environment.
