“E-Learning for the Greek Diaspora” by the University of Crete

An ambitious and innovative project, which will complete and enrich the education of expatriate Greeks, will be finished by December, 2013. The project is an e-learning method for Greek Diaspora on which the Center of Intercultural and Migration Studies (E.DIA.M.ME) of the University of Crete is currently working.
The topic was raised by Greek expatriate teachers from 13 countries and scientists from Greece and Greek Diaspora, who participated in a two-day conference, organized by E.DIA.M.ME, on July 9th and 10th, in Rethymno.
The director of E.DIA.M.ME, professor Michael Damanakis, said to the Athens News Agency, from Rethymno, that “In the conference they exchanged experiences and views, discussed about plans and proposals for the operational planning of the e-learning project, on the basis of which the method will be developed and applied in the following school years. The project has to have been completed by the end of 2013 and be available for use by any school, as well as by any user interested”.
The teaching material of the project “Education of the Expatriate Greeks” (June 1997-August 2008), which evolved to the “Primary and Secondary Intercultural Education of Diaspora” Project constitutes the basis of the new Project, which will be completed by December 2013.
