Low Tourist Traffic Aboard Ferries

The coastal fleet is ready to transfer about one million passengers to the Aegean islands, Crete and the Dodecanese, and more than 200,000 travelers are expected to land at the nearby Saronic Gulf destinations. Despite this, the passenger traffic in the first half of 2011, showed monthly variations, ranging from 7% to 15% compared to last year’s traffic, depending on the destination. Preliminary figures for June showed that the traffic has fallen, with exception to small weekend trips and the Holy Spirit weekend.
July’s traffic will be important for the islands during this summer, while there are still available tickets for all destinations, even on days of high tourist traffic, which starts from today, July 16th until early August.
