First Meeting of Cyprus President with Turkish-Cypriot Leader

On Monday July 25th, the first meeting of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Demetris Christofias and the leader of the Turkish-Cypriot community Dervis Eroglu held a meeting to discuss Cyprus. The meetings will continue until the end of October and will take place twice a week.
The talks will stop only from 7 until 21 August during the meeting of the UN General Assembly. The two leaders also plan to meet with the UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon in October, in New York.
On Tuesday, Mr. Christofias will meet with his French Counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris. It is expected that members of the French Senate, including the chairman of the France-Cyprus Inter-parliamentary Group of Friendship Mark Massion and members of the French government will be present for the meeting.
