Bout of HIV in Athens Blamed on Prostitution

Data of the National Center for Prevention and Control of Disease has shown an unprecendented percentage of increase over the last year. HIV infections have increased by 580% in comparison with 2010. Health authorities should take action immediately, warned the Center.

Since June 9, many efforts have been made to control  the number of prostitutes, drug users and immigrants that gather at both Amerikis and Victorias Square.

Dr. V. Liapis announced that things were worse than expected. The main reasons for the increase were attributed to the increasing number of prostitutes and drug users. The bout of HIV viruses concerns both immigrants and Greeks.
