In order to save annually at least 500 million euros, the Hellenic Army General Staff decided to close Military Units and Airports, and to cut down some benefits.
The reduction of the number of Units will bring in 62 million euros annually. The centers for recruits will be reduced from 35 to 12 saving around 34 million euros.
In addition, the Navy cut down its budget by 140 million euros. The Hellenic Army General Staff managed to decrease its debt from 79 to 19 million euro and by the end of the year its debts will disappear.
