Criminal Proceedings Against Anyone Involved in the Greek Phone Tapping Case 2004-2005

 The Court of Athens decided to start proceedings against anyone involved in the phone tapping case. In January 2006, it was revealed that more than 100 mobile phone numbers were tapped and conversations of Greek Governmentals were monitored but the perpetrators were never spotted.
After a letter of Miltiadis Papaioannou, who is now Minister of Justice, police began searching again, as the minister noted that there were evidences which were not taken into consideration during the preliminary inquiry.
According to the Public Prosecutor, there is evidence that more than one members of the American Embassy are involved in the case from July 2004 until February 2005.
The Communist party invited the two biggest political parties PASOK and ND to express their opinion regarding the role of USA in the phone tapping of conversations of the Greek government in 2006.
