According to newsbeast.gr the majority of Rectors after their meeting estimated that the new law regarding higher education includes imprecise and unconstitutional clauses. Their main concern is the new Board of Trustees. In fact, the procedures for the election of the new members have not begun and in this case, according to the law, the Minister of Education has the authority to choose them. The Rectors are also planning to propose to the Ministry to postpone putting into practice the new measures at least for a while.
According to “Eleftherotypia”, the rectors underline they have nothing to do with the takeovers of the schools by the students as they wish that the universities remain open. However, students are furious for not being invited during the talks regarding the new law.
