French Tourist Drowns During Squall in Lefkada

The Ionian Island of Lefkada was hit by a squall on Tuesday afternoon that caused the drowning of a French tourist.
The strong squall that hit the Bay of Vlichos has caused serious damages in the region of Vlichos, even overturning of boats tied in the careenage.
During the squall a 60-year-old man from France drowned because he fell overboard while he had been on a boat with his wife. The man was transferred to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead from drowning.
The Nydri port authorities are carrying out an investigation into the circumstances by which the accident happened.
Two British tourists were also endangered in the Bay of Vlichos, when their boat took on water, but they managed to reach the shore safely.
