Greek Parliament Approves EFSF In Preliminary Vote

Greece΄s parliament approved legislation implementing Europe΄s enhanced temporary bailout fund in a preliminary vote Wednesday.
The legislation was approved in principle by a vote of 183 for and 38 against. Only 221 lawmakers out of 300 in parliament cast a vote.
The law implements new powers given to the European Financial Stability Facility by European leaders at a July 21 summit. These include an expansion in the effective lending power of the fund and the ability to intervene in government bond markets among other things.
A final vote on the legislation is expected Thursday. It is expected to pass parliament with support from the two major Greek parties.
