Greece΄s Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos confirmed that new property tax will apply after 2012, as the government looks for ways to support revenues in its mid term 2011-2014 budgetary plan.
“The tax for 2011 and 2012 will be included in coming years in the national tax system. However, we will examine all of its parameters in the future,” he told Parliament.
Furthermore, long-term unemployed with income of up to €12,000 annually will be exempted from the tax, while there would be changes regarding the imposition of the tax on vulnerable people.
